1936 pattern, SS chained dagger

One of the 'must-haves' for edged weapons collectors

Black ebony grip, with enamel Runes eye and nickel-silver eagle & swastika detail. Heavy nickle-silver plated upper and lower guards. The dagger blade with a good crisp motto, and the blade typically, without manufacturer's name or trademark.

The SS chained dagger with type 1, nickel-silver plated chains, with the typical deep set Runes impressed to the reverse. The scabbard in black painted finish. The centre mount with single screw.

Condition report: The dagger in excellent overall condition throughout, and free from any visible plate loss to the guards and fittings. The grip in near perfect condition and free from any cracks or other major damage. The enamel Runes eye also free from any damage. Excellent fit between grip and upper and lower crossguards.

The blade with 95% polish and cross grain finish remaining. The motto clear and crisp. Scabbard free in overall excellent original condition (95% fine painted finish remaining). A slight dent to the reverse half way between the middle mount and bottom mount. Loss of paint at that point, now aged. This small knock may well have taken place pre-1945, or shortly afterwards. The heavy nickle-silver plated chains and scabbard mounts free from plate loss. The skull and Runes chain discs particularly crisp and with outstanding defination to the  skull and Runes motifs. The linking sections clean, and free from splits. The bottom ball remaining free from dents or damage. All screws present.

Perfect scabbard to dagger fit, and clean and smooth slide in and out.
